Accessories Cover
What You Need To Know

By . Updated September 2021.

What is Accessories Cover?

Accessories cover will reimburse you the value of items stolen or damaged beyond repair, however theft may be under the condition the bike is stolen at the same time. This cover is usually an option or you may have some cover for your accessories included as standard. In cycle insurance policies, accessories cover basically means that if your cycle accessories such as helmet or bike lock are stolen or damaged whilst cycling.

Do I Need it?

Accessories cover isn’t mandatory but we’ve found that over the years it can be just as popular as accidental damage and theft cover. Given the fact that if your bike were stolen, it’s likely you would also lose your lock, drinks bottle and anything else you may have kept on your bike too.

Is it Always Available?

Generally, most insurers will give you an option of including accessories cover in your policy. However, don’t assume that it is included as standard as this isn’t always the case.

If you’re unsure, check your policy, but almost always, you will have the option to add it during your quote journey.

What Accessories Are Covered?

This depends entirely on your insurance provider. Generally speaking, you can expect to be covered for the following: cycling specific locks, helmets, shoes, clothing, bags, bottles and gadgets (but you need to check with your specific insurer as to exactly which accessories of yours will be covered, you can find this in the policy wording.)
