Who are British Cycling?

British Cycling are the National Governing Body for cycling in Great Britain. They aim to inspire more people to participate in cycling as both a sport and recreational activity, as well as a sustainable transport means, through achieving worldwide success in various cycling competitions.

British Cycling manages all of the elite & professional aspects of the sport, and this usually includes performances and events at GB level. They also oversee the development of cycling as a sport in England. Great Britain is represented by British Cycling at UCI, which is the World Governing Body for Cycling, and it is UCI who oversee the sport at an international level.

Essential services are also provided by British Cycling to the cycling Governing Bodies in Scotland and Wales, which are the Scottish Cycling Union (SCU) and the Welsh Cycling Union (WCU). Both are involved in developing and promoting cycling at all levels and include focusing on the Commonwealth Games. British Cycling provides services which are essential to both of the above unions, including administering their memberships, licences and insurances alongside providing support and guidance for all aspects of cycling.
